About Here...

Hello everyone! Welcome to my website! I’m Mahtab Kalani, a recent 22-year-old graduate from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory sciences, focusing on practical and theoretical skills for identifying organisms and diseases in various samples. However, I’ve developed a strong interest in bioinformatics and molecular genetics. I can’t quite put into words why I’m passionate about this field; it seems to be something deep in my heart that I can’t fully reach. Nonetheless, various aspects of bioinformatics and genetics always bring excitement to my life, and I would like to share them with you!

Some people perceive life as painful, while others view it as a gift. Despite our different perspectives, living organisms share the common desire to survive. This innate instinct to survive is evident in the simplest life forms, such as a bacterium’s CRISPR-Cas system, and in more complex organisms, like the human immune system. Regardless of our personal views, our cells seem to have an existentialist approach to life. Through evolution and reproduction, we aim to ensure our continued presence in the world. This universal pursuit of survival leads me to ponder the underlying purpose of it all.

Then we started to believe that DNA is responsible for these desires. Therefore, we began analyzing it to find similarities and differences, observe mutations and evolution, predict the future, explore the past, cure diseases, learn about our ancestors, and uncover the origin of life. However, we soon realized that accomplishing these tasks would require the help of computers. With the help of computer science, we were able to find and create algorithms and pathways that were beyond our understanding. We could analyze DNA, RNA, and protein sequences on a large scale and develop various programs that could simplify finding the interactions between molecules, genes, and diseases.

All these accomplishments may be the reason why I want to be there. If there is a place where biology and computer science meet and if we can solve the questions and mysteries hidden within our sequences, I want to be a part of it.

And for me, it has been a long journey to find my place in this amazing world. I tried to increase my knowledge but still, there is a long way in front of me and I cannot explain how excited I am to feel every step I will take in this pathway. But for the accomplishments I have already done, I created this website and I am eager to update it after my future accomplishment. Feel free to take a look! Hope you enjoy it.
